The studio Lenzi + Baglini Architetti has coordinated the refurbishing of a striking farmhouse dating back to the 1500s, on the crest of a splendid hill in the heart of Sienese Chianti, facing vineyards and forests.

The key of the architectural and interior design was to reconcile contemporary needs with existing vernacular elements, making a residential environment that fully respects the local tradition.

Organized on two levels that follow the shape of the crest, the house develops around a double volume connected by a modern cantilevered staircase that is the hinge between the daytime functions, on the first level, and the nighttime zone on the lower level.

The evocative tower with a square plan, the ‘heart’ of the private space of the house, connects the master bedroom on the lower floor with the living area and private study under the roof, with an elegant spiral staircase with two ramps in reinforced concrete, made by Rizzi.
