The official opening will be in October 2015, with the French Ambassador to Italy Catherine Colonna, for the new library/mediatheque of Institut Français in Florence, the French state cultural agency reporting to the French Embassy in Italy.
Inside the 15th-century Palazzo Lenzi on Piazza Ognissanti, the new library will occupy the entire ground floor of the historic Palazzo (attributed to Brunelleschi and Michelozzo), completing the modernization of the Institute in Florence.
The project done by BG Architetti of Maria Concetta Bauso and Guido Gori (www.bgarchitetti.it) does not alter the existing architectural layout, but underlines its rhythms and proportions thanks to the arrangement of the lighting and furnishings; starting with a reinterpretation of the modular elements, the project combines them with new functional needs of visibility, access and comfort.
