iGuzzini Illuminazione has supplied the lighting for Station F, the world’s largest startup campus, opened at the end of 2017 in the center of Paris.
Organized by the entrepreneur Xavier Niel, this innovative project is a true digital nursery with an area of 34,000 m2 in the area of the historic Halle Frassinet, a former train and truck loading facility built in 1927-29 and previously connected to the rail network of the Gare d’Austerlitz.
For the occasion, iGuzzini has worked with the Paris-based studio Wilmotte & Associés to create an architectural and lighting project capable of enhancing the austere image of the building, bringing out its refined proportions.
The complex, with a length of 310 meters and a width of 58, is composed of three parallel aisles with slim arches in prestressed concrete, each with a specific function.
The result of a project by the engineer Eugène Freyssinet, the building was entirely made in prestressed concrete, taking advantage of an innovative technique – later patented – that gave it an extraordinarily light load-bearing structure: a unique, original characteristic that has led to its listing, in 2012, as a protected historical monument.
