Fili d’erba, the new automated warehouse of Pedrali designed by CZA – Cino Zucchi Architetti inside the production complex of the Italian company at Mornico al Serio, Bergamo, is an avant-garde structure operating 24 hours a day, for storage of 16,880 pallets of finished and semi-finished products.

With a height of 29 meters and a total area of 7000 m2, it is connected to the existing industrial spaces by a skytrain and 8 self-steering shuttles.

The cladding establishes a relationship with the surrounding context, with a visual backdrop that responds to changes in the nearby agricultural landscape.

All four walls are clad with insulated panels in a natural aluminium color, over which simple extruded aluminium pieces are placed to generate a visual pattern, almost like gigantic ‘leaves of grass’ that add rhythm to the facades.

The Fili d’erba automated warehouse reflects Pedrali’s focus on the landscape, gaining the firm a special mention in the Green Company Awards.
