Excellent food, art and design, for solidarity

Based on idea of the chef Massimo Bottura and Davide Rampello, the “Refettorio Ambrosiano” project focuses on excellence in cuisine, art and design, at the service of solidarity, in a historical place in Milan, the former theater connected to the parish of San Martino in the Greco district, a place that has been abandoned for 30 years. The involvement of the Diocese of Milan and Caritas (which is handling the restructuring of the building) brings concrete form to this original idea of solidarity, in which artists and designers join forces: Mimmo Paladino, Giuseppe Penone, Enzo Cucchi, Mario Bellini, Aldo Cibic, Michele De Lucchi, Giulio Bacchetti, Piero Dissoni, Alessandro Mendini, Fabio Novembre and Italo Rota, just to name a few. Expo Milano 2015 is also taking part in the project: to bring concrete results to the commitment for more equitable distribution of nutritional resources, the social matrix of the theme (Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life), Expo has decided to contribute surplus meals and foods during the six months of the event, for redistribution to people in need.
