Collaboration between the Venetian Institute of Sciences, Letters and Arts, an academy that has promoted and safeguarded scientific and humanistic culture on an international level for over two centuries, and organizes the International Glass in Venice Prize, and Riedel Crystal, the Austrian company with an age-old family tradition in the production of crystal tasting glasses and decanters, has led to the creation of the Riedel Award. The competition, part of the Glass in Venice program, is for young artists and designers under 30 from all over the world who will submit a project connected with one or more techniques of glassmaking to a jury of experts and professionals, including Georg J. Riedel. Projects competing for the Riedel Award should be submitted by 31 August 2014. The prize ceremony will take place in Venice in October 2014.
