The concept of hospitality is now focusing on emotional and psychological factors; no longer just an elegant environment, but also a true experience of wellbeing. These are the principles behind Voice of Colour, the chromatic strategy of Sigma Coatings, a brand of PPG Univer Spa, inserted in the project for La Suite Hotel in Matera, designed by Studio Marco Piva.
A 5-star hotel, it is located along the famous Via Lucana, a few meters from the Sassi. The unique feature of La Suite is a blend of aspects connected to the social and urban fabric of the context, and to analysis of stylistic trends, giving rise to a traditionally modern complex.
La Suite Hotel is like a monument of triumph, whose design is inspired by Italian 20th-century rationalism, expressed in a lack of decorative touches that favors authenticity and integration in the historical city. The project has regenerated an urban void, recovering the historic entrance arch of the garden belonging to the original structure, restored and reassembled where it was before, but built into a different facade system, taking as a theatrical urban setting.
“From past to future, in the La Suite Hotel in Matera the emotional element shifts from the concept suggested by the territorial context to design, with a hospitality offering that brings together tourism and business, functional quality and comfort, in versatile spaces featuring a range of high-performance materials,” says Marco Piva.
Voice of Colour becomes part of the chromatic definition of La Suite, intentionally essential and conceived to bring uniformity to the design. Closely connected to the use of light and materials, color becomes a decisive factor to bring added, innovative and original value to the building, with respect to the historical context in which it is inserted.
