Pierattelli Architetture presents a master plan that redesigns the Novoli district, an area of expansion in the northwest zone of Florence, to offer the city new spaces, services and a striking stadium

Pierattelli Architetture presents a project for the new stadium of the Fiorentina football team at Novoli, with a master plan that calls for the renewal of the area – now utilized for a wholesale food market – to offer the city not just an avant-garde sports facility, but also an accessible functional district, regenerated for services and leisure-time activities.

The project for the new stadium becomes an opportunity to transform this infrastructure into a sign of urban renewal, growth and expansion, redesigning the urban setting in one of the most vital zones of the city.

Featuring an organic form, the stadium – higher on one side and lower on the other – resembles a big ‘stone.’ A colorful metal grid covers the external structure, utilizing the colors of the team: violet, white and red. 16 entrances, of which 4 with turnstiles, elevators and panoramic staircases offer access to the 3 rings of stands, as well as the shopping center and food zone that are always open to the public.

The new stadium designed by Pierattelli is therefore not just an object grafted into the existing urban fabric, but an element that is part of a new vision of the city, capable of combining different functions, and providing year-round areas of activity. A holistic vision of the relationship between architecture, urban planning and social life.
