From May 2019 to February 2020, Maravee, the festival of contemporary art and performance formulated and directed by Sabrina Zannier is back with a new program. Fresh, unexpected, straddling the fields of art and design, the 18th edition of the festival confirms a format based on a multiplicity of languages, approached through critical cultural commitment and a bit of ‘marvel’ that is also indicated in the name of the entire project.
With four fundamental appointments and as many satellite events, from a workshop to a conference, Maravee Object – this is the title of the 2019 edition – ventures into the folds of the relationship between objects and the human body, triggering a dialogue between ideas and senses, the mind that designs the useful function and the body that establishes a sensorial relationship with the object.
The object becomes the protagonist of sculptures, paintings, videos, photographs, installations, sets, dance, theater and music performances, in a festival made possible by the support of Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the main sponsor Gervasoni, the City of Gemona del Friuli, the Slovenian Obalne Galerije Piran, and coordinated by Associazione Culturale Maravee.
The starting point of the 2019 edition is the exhibition Verde Respiro at Museo Civico di Palazzo Elti, transformed by Maravee into a visionary total green landscape that foreshadows the festival concept, reminding us that one of the biggest challenges for the future of human actions lies in the ethical direction of a renewed relationship with the environment.
