Francesca Spanish II by Baleri Italia

DESIGNER Philippe Starck
A metal frame with a silver/black finish, the Francesca Spanish II chair with armrests by Baleri Italia is marked by a cleanliness of line that becomes complex in its perceptual slippage, becoming expressively full-bodied presence. Its name refers to a character from Ubik, a Philip K. Dick novel that captured Starck’s imagination. At first sight, the extremely honest and rigorous design looks neat and stripped to its essentials to highlight the functional nature of the object, yet the backrest pushes forwards hooking itself onto the arms which in turn boldly curve down to becomes the legs with a gentle change of proportions.
