Although always dealing with outdoor life, Roda had hitherto kept the territory of the kitchen unexplored. Finally now the month of May marks the debut of Norma, the brand’s first outdoor kitchen, signed as usual by the art director Rodolfo Dordoni, who in this project wanted to celebrate his passion for the south and Sicily in particular. The name, in fact, recalls both the famous work of the Catania composer Vincenzo Bellini and the popular Sicilian dressing. “Cooking belongs to the pleasures of everyday life. We wanted to enrich the atmosphere that we have always given to living outdoors, through products lines as complete as possible, also adding an outdoor kitchen” explains Rodolfo Dordoni. Norma is not an improvised kitchen but “a product conceived with an all-Italian sensibility, which intends to enhance our passion for cooking combined with the functionality and quality of good design”. Created in collaboration with Ilve, a company specialized in the production of professional kitchens for domestic use, Norma is dynamic well-structured furnishing solution. The freestanding island contains a sink block in AISI 304 stainless steel grafted onto a Lapitec top with a structured finish; a special lower compartment can also contain a refrigerator upon request. The peninsula offers an extension of the work area into a high suspended counter, which that can also be used as a comfortable support for dinners. The kitchen hob can be placed on wheels and also stowed away where it is most convenient, also below the peninsula worktop. The triple-crown hob with five gas burners holds larch wood staving shelves in the compartment below. A practical utensil bar make it possible to always keep accessories within reach, transforming this kitchen into an essential outdoor furniture collection for summer gourmet moments and long dinners under the stars. Optionals include stainless steel grills and wooden cutting boards set perfectly into the worktop. The chromatic choice ranges from the distinctive Smoke colour of Roda to the Rust and Milk hues also available for the doors. The focus of the project is the organization of a flexible, mobile and tidy open-air cooking space in which each object has its own location. A kitchen to live together that for Roda represents a significant leap in a new type of product, completing a catalog already full of furniture proposals for outdoor life.
