In 1957, for the executive board meeting room of the renovated Chamber of Commerce of Milan, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni design a really innovative suspension: Saliscendi.
The luminaire, made the next year by Stilnovo in two unique models, was born from the intuition to combine two light sources: one direct and one diffused through the reflection on a disc which allow the lamp to offer at the same time a precise and a soft-mood lighting. The body of the lamp and the disc can be moved close or far thanks to a brilliant pulley system which allows to regulate the intensity of the lighting. Thanks to Stilnovo, Saliscendi is now available after more than 60 years from its creation, after a re-engineering process which made it suitable for the contemporary lifestyle.
