Diaphanous collection by Hosoo

BRAND Hosoo
DESIGNER Mae Engelgeer
The new collection Diaphanous by Hosoo, created in collaboration with Dutch textile designer Mae Engelgeer, is a new semi translucent textile which was inspired by traditional Japanese shoji, the sliding room divider made with Japanese paper washi. Hosoo textiles are born in Kyoto from the unison of the Nishijin textile, traditionally used for royalty’s and nobility’s kimonos over 1200 years, unique revolutionary technology and timeless design. Nishijin textiles require more than 20 steps in the process carried out by specialised craftspeople. Hosoo is specialised in utilising silk, as well as a very special technique to insert gold and silver foil into the textile, being also able to create a materic and a three-dimension effect.
