The new antibacterial technology developed by the Gruppo Marazzi Research and Development Center is called Puro Marazzi Antibacterial

Puro Marazzi Antibacterial is the new antibacterial technology for ceramic surfaces, created by Marazzi to eliminate up to 99.9% of bacteria and other harmful microorganisms. By incorporating additives to curb the proliferation of microbes in the first stages of firing the products, Puro guarantees a constant antimicrobial and antibacterial action, in any light conditions, and the durability of the surfaces, capable of dynamically preventing the formation of signs of organic deterioration. Puro ceramic and porcelain stoneware surfaces are ideal for all environments (residential, commercial and public), particularly in settings where maximum hygiene, cleanliness and safety have to be guaranteed, such as kitchens, the hospitality industry, canteens, doctors’ clinics, schools, offices, bathrooms, spas, swimming pools and gyms, preserving over time the excellent aesthetic and technical qualities of Marazzi ceramic surfaces.

At a glance

What is it?
Puro is Marazzi's new antimicrobial technology effective against pathogenic microorganisms, eliminating up to 99.9% of harmful bacteria and microorganisms. It is intended for all who want to design and live in healthier, cleaner and safer environments.
What is the design concept?
Improving people's quality of life through aesthetically beautiful, eco-sustainable, easy-to-clean ceramic and porcelain stoneware products to maintain a healthy environment. The technology behind Puro Marazzi Antibacterial porcelain stoneware surfaces acts on a wide range of bacteria, curbing their growth and reproduction and preventing the formation of stains and odors.
How is it made?
The production process involves the integration of sanitizing additives in the upper layer of the material before firing in a kiln at over 1200 degrees. The treatment is irreversible and guarantees an enduring constant antibacterial action on the ceramic surfaces.
How is it produced and where?
It is produced in the group's production facilities, where the most modern technologies are installed, both for flooring and wall tiles.
How is it manufactured?
It is essential to have the production skills and technical know-how to incorporate the new phase of production that incorporates the antimicrobial additives in the raw materials, without altering the technical and aesthetic qualities of the products.
What makes it special?
These are three cutting edge technologies brought together for the first time in our laboratories. They are antimicrobial products with a constant action, even in the absence of light, with a soft and cleanable non-slip surface, being free from roughness (the Stepwise patent) and made in a closed cycle from over 40% recycled material.
