Every year around a third of food production in the world is wasted, while almost one billion people are without food. Food for Soul – the non-profit organization founded by Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore to promote social awareness on waste and hunger – starts from these data for a call to action aimed at all of us: change starts with our daily actions in the kitchen , to then expand to convivial tables and raise awareness of entire communities, which in turn will take action to transform the food system into a healthier and more sustainable model.
Thanks to the Google Arts & Culture platform, from today Food for Soul shares in an even more engaging and interactive way a series of contents that tell the philosophy and initiatives of the Modena non-profit. This is the first step towards a collaboration through which Google Arts & Culture will support the organization in its commitment to a healthy and fair food system.
On Google Arts & Culture, the recipes and advice of the best chefs - from Massimo Bottura and the team of Osteria Francescana to the chefs of the various refectories around the world - it will be possible to discover how a healthy food system can play a primary role in transforming our society towards a more sustainable model.
In the Refettore, the dishes are created with food surpluses, the spaces have been designed by architects and designers such as Metro Architects, Ilse Crawford and the Campana brothers while artists such as Mimmo Paladino and JR participate with their creations to tell the beauty of a convivial act.
Last but not least, volunteers welcome guests with simple gestures of great value, from fresh flowers to the handwritten menu. Every day, they actively contribute to spreading the Food for Soul message: we are the revolution.
